BANGALORE: The VII Fast Track Court has convicted and sentenced a man and his second wife to life imprisonment for murdering his first wife. The court fined Chandrashekar and Mamatha Rs. 10,000 each. According to the charge-sheet filed by the Subramanyapura police in the court, Chandrashekar had married Baghya in July 2002. Three months later, he sought Baghya's permission to marry another woman, Mamatha. Despite Baghya's opposition, Chandrashekar married Mamatha on October 9, 2002. On October 10, Chandrashekar and Mamatha doused Baghya with kerosene and set her on fire, the charge-sheet said. She died on October 11.
Recovered
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested Tajuddin alias Tajju (23) of Yeshwanthapur on charges of burglary and recovered from him gold and silver ornaments and five "panchaloha" idols, all estimated at Rs. 4 lakhs. The accused had burgled houses in K.R. Puram, Nandini Layout, Jnana Bharathi and Magadi Road police station limits, the police said. The police are on the lookout for Dorairaj alias Dorai, an accomplice of Tajuddin, who is at large.
Arrested
The Adugodi police have arrested 10 persons who allegedly went on a rampage in Rajendranagar on June 5 and had extorted money from shopkeepers. The accused, armed with swords and iron rods, had smashed the glass panes of five shops and a vehicle, the police said. The names of the arrested were given as Thomas, Yesuraj, Ranjith Kumar, Stephen, Sanjeev Kumar, Shiva Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Karthik, Zabi and Naushad.
