HYDERABAD: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) president, Krupakar Madiga, on Thursday presented a memorandum to the Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde urging him to impress upon the President and other Central leaders the need to introduce a bill in the parliament on sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes. Mr. Krupakar said the Government should act urgently as the careers of Madiga students were at stake. They would be deprived of reservation benefits if a bill or an ordinance was not issued immediately. He said the MRPS was demanding equal distribution of educational and employment opportunities by the State Government alone.
Opposition
Meanwhile, Mala Mahanadu has asked Ministers and Members of Parliament belonging to the Mala community oppose sub-categorisation of the SCs and oppose any move to depute an all-party delegation to New Delhi to meet the Central leaders. The Mala Mahanadu president, P. V. Rao, in a statement on Thursday warned that the Ministers and MPs from the community would not be allowed to move freely if they failed to oppose the sub-categorisation. He wanted the Ministers and MPs to write letters to the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, opposing the quota. Mr. Rao said Mala Mahanadu activists would stage a demonstration in front of Gandhi Bhavan on Friday in protest against the move to send a delegation to Delhi.
