HYDERABAD: Four robbers raided a bank employee's house at Telecomnagar in Gachchibowli on the city fringes on Thursday afternoon and took away gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 4 lakhs. While the house owner Sudhakar, an employee of Canara Bank, and his family members were away, his niece Susmita of Malkajgiri had come to collect her identity card. Around 2.30 p.m., the unidentified persons barged into the house when Susmita was about to leave. All of them wielded knives. But, two also had pistols in their hands. "It is not yet known if they are genuine firearms," the Rayadurg Inspector, R. Sudarshan, said. Even as Susmita panicked, one of them jumped on her and held a knife to her throat threatening to kill her if she raised an alarm. When she explained she knew nothing about the property in the house and had come to collect her belongings, the robbers confined Susmita in a room. Later, they searched every nook and corner of the house, collected the gold and silver ornaments and left the house after bolting it from outside. All of them were in their mid-twenties. One spoke in Telugu and the remaining in Telugu and Urdu. Similarities in accent, the clothes they wore and the knives they used led the police to believe that the same gang could have been involved in the robbery committed in a doctor couple's house at S.R. Nagar in the wee hours of Wednesday.
