KOCHI: Steps will be taken to ensure that regions like Chellanam and Kumbalanghi that experience acute shortage of drinking water get their due share, said Dominic Presentation, Minister for Fisheries and Sports. He was speaking after the inauguration of the desalination plant, installed by the Department of Fisheries at Chellanam on Friday. Stern action will be taken against Kerala Water Authority officials if they are found diverting water meant for these regions to meet the demand for Vypeen component, he said. "Works worth Rs. 1.50 crores have been tendered for construction of seawall along the coast of West Kochi. The work will begin by August, after the monsoon," he said.
