PONDICHERRY: The Central Excise Commissionerate has opened a help desk at the premises of the Pondicherry Chamber of Industrieshere. A press release from the Commissioner of Central Excise said the objective of opening the help desk is to provide guidance to the trade and industry on all matters related to Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax. The desk would help make assessees aware of their rights, obligations, advantage of tax compliance and also the consequences of not paying the tax. It would also give guidance on issues related to small-scale sector. A Superintendent and an Inspector of Central Excise would be available between 2 and 5 p.m. on weekdays for rendering help. The Pondicherry Chamber of Industries is situated inside the Industrial Estate in Mettupalayam.
