Specialised training for physiotherapy students

NEW DELHI: The first batch of students pursuing Masters of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal and Masters of Physiotherapy in Neurology at the ISIC Institute of Rehabilitation Science, the educational wing of the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre here, are at present undergoing a four-week specialised training at the Department of San Raffaele Hospital at Milan in Italy.

"The specialised training will now become a routine activity for the physiotherapy students undertaking Masters courses at ISIC Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences.

Our endeavour is to make the Institute a premier institute worldwide," says the ISIC Chairman, Major H. P. S. Ahluwalia.

New phone numbers

NEW DELHI: Almost 5,050 landline phones of MTNL working at the Janakpuri exchange will be transferred to a new exchange at Vikaspuri on Monday at 3 p.m. This will lead to changes in phone numbers starting with codes 2550/55/57/59/61 and 62 and they will have the new code 2854.

Similarly, 800 phones with codes 2605/06/07/08/09 and 2995/96 attached to the Tughlakhabad exchange will be transferred to the Sangam Vihar exchange on Monday with the new code 2604.

"Grahak Mitra'' service launched

NEW DELHI: The Managing Director of the State Bank of Patiala, Yogesh Aggarwal, on Saturday launched its "Grahak Mitra" service at the bank's Nehru Place and Shastri Bhavan branches.

The new initiative is aimed at improving customer service and has already been implemented at 51 branches.

Malaysian delegation visits IGNOU

NEW DELHI: The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has recognised the study material of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) here as most authentic and reliable, said the IGNOU Vice-Chancellor, H.P. Dikshit, while addressing a delegation from Malaysia on Saturday.

Prof. Dikshit said IGNOU imparted education through multiple media instructional package but of late there was a shift towards greater use of electronic media like audio/visual radio, educational TV and teleconferencing.

Polio booth inaugurated

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Medical Association president, K. K. Aggarwal, inaugurated a polio booth at its premises here on Saturday.

The DMA proposes to set up 1,200 such booths across the Capital.

Mr. Aggarwal said the polio eradication campaign was almost complete and only the "tail" was left.

"However, the process must continue for the next five years." he said.
