NEW DELHI: Burglars struck at the house of an employee of The Hindu near Ashram in South Delhi on Friday afternoon and escaped with cash and jewellery. The burglary came to light when the father of Prince Chadha, working with the advertisement department of The Hindu, returned home from work around 1-45 p.m. He found the main door of the ground floor house locked from inside. Thinking that one of the family members had returned home, he knocked at the door but there was no response. He then went to the rear of the house and found the door ajar. When he went inside, he found the house completely ransacked. The burglars had managed to break open a steel almirah and a wooden almirah and opened all the bed boxes. They took away cash and jewellery from the house. Mr. Chadha said his father was the last person to leave the house around 11 a.m. The burglars seemed to have broken into the house soon after. They locked the main door from inside to avoid any suspicion. A case of burglary has been registered at the Sriniwaspuri police station and investigations are on.
