Major gas find in Krishna-Godavari Basin

AHMEDABAD: The State-owned Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has struck rich reserves of natural gas in the Krishna-Godavari basin off the Andhra Pradesh coast that will save the foreign exchange reserves by Rs. 10,000 crores annually for the next 20 years.

Announcing this here on Sunday, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said the GSPC was allocated the 1,850 sq. km. area on the high seas for exploration only last year and in about 300 days it had discovered gas in its KG block which experts estimate was in the range of 20 Trillion Cubic Feet (TCF) worth over Rs. 2 lakh crores.
