Literary meet

in October

The ninth All India Kannada Literary and Cultural Conference will be held in Pondicherry on October 15 and October 16.

According to M.B. Samaga, convenor of the conference, the event will be organised by "Dehali Kannadiga", a Delhi-based Kannada monthly.

The event will feature seminars on Kannada language, literature and culture, a poet's meet, women festival, music, dance, drama and other cultural programmes and a books exhibition.

Theatre training workshop

Ranga Samsthana will organise a free theatre training workshop at Anjan Play Home, No. 276/217, 8th Main, 3rd Stage, Nataraja Kalyana Mantapa Road, Sanegoravanahalli, Basaveshwaranagar. The workshop will focus on training the participants in acting, body language, mask-making, theatre games, folk songs and stage songs.

Award

S.S. Iyengar, professor of Computer Science at IISc and a member of the Department of Information and Technology, was awarded a prestigious fellow award at the eighth International Conference on Integrated Design and Process Technology held recently in Beijing, China. He is an authority on distributed sensor networks useful for emergency operations.
