Centre blamed for crisis in farm sector

BANGALORE:
C.K. Chandrappa, MP, has alleged that the pro-liberal policies of the Centre and the State Government are responsible for the crisis in the agricultural sector. Participating in a meeting of the All India Kisan Sabha here on Saturday, he said both the Centre and the State Government have yielded to the dictates of the World Bank and formulated "anti-people" policies.
Many farmers have committed suicide on account of "wrong" economic policies of the Government, he added. The General Secretary of the sabha, Athulkumar Anjan, sought withdrawal of increase in the prices of petroleum products. The Minister of State for Labour, Tanvir Sait, and the MP, Pramod Panda, spoke.
