NLC to become paperless

CUDDALORE:
The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), S. Jayaraman, inaugurated the "online integrated material management system" set up at a cost of Rs. 2 crore in its corporate office on Saturday.
With the introduction of the system, NLC was marching towards a "paperless corporate." Since, the corporation already had the "integrated voice and data communications fibre optics network," the new system would use the high bandwidth network as the carrier.
Mr. Jayaraman said the new procedure would be implemented in a phased mannerand it would be totally computerised by April 1, 2006.
Khanindra Pathak, professor of mining engineering, IIT, said experts from the mining, computer science and industrial engineering and management departments of his institution had designed the package.
The NLC Director (Planning and Projects), A. R. Ansari, the Director (Personnel), R. Narasimhan, the Director (Finance), J. N. Prasannakumar, the Director (Power), V. Sethuraman, computer centre in-charge P. Chandrasekar and the Chief Vigilance Officer, V. Narayanan, participated.
