VISAKHAPATNAM: A drive will be launched to make one lakh women, who are members of self-help groups and community health workers, literate. This was announced by the Collector, Praveen Prakash, here on Monday.
Vocational training
Self-Help Group members should be able to maintain their accounts and explain the same to the officials concerned, while community health workers, whose main responsibility is to ensure that tribals took the drugs prescribed to them, must be able to prepare report, he said. Mr. Praveen Prakash also said that a plan was being drawn to provide vocational training to tribals from third to 10th standard. ``The idea behind the programme is make children understand that there are many options for them after completing the 10th class examination.
Info about trades
From third to fifth class, the children would be told about various trades available in vocational training, according to the Collector. During sixth and seventh classes., they would visit training centres and from eighth to 10 classes, they would have training, the Collector said.
