CUDDALORE: A service organisation, the Sri Guru Nanak All Sikhs' Society, will take up the construction of 50 permanent houses for the tsunami-affected fishermen at Muzhukkuthruai near here. The Villupuram Leprosy Mission will also construct 111 permanent houses in the coastal village. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the village in the presence of the District Collector, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, the Chidambaram Sub-Collector, Rajendra Ratnoo, and the District Revenue Officer (Relief and Rehabilitation), M.S. Shanmugham. Mr. Bedi noted that the government had provided 50 temporary shelters and the EPICOR service organisation another 141 shelters to them. The permanent houses, each measuring 325 sq.ft would be built on three cents of land, and would incorporate quake and cyclone-proof features.
