TIRUPATI: The former captain of Indian cricket team, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, offered prayers at the famous Vayulingeswara temple in Srikalahasti on Tuesday.

He is visiting the temple for the third consecutive year, every time on June 28, to take part in rituals like `Rudrabhishekam' and `Nitya Kalyanotsavam'.

Srikkanth, who was received at the main entrance by the temple officials and priests, worshipped at the shrines of Lord Sri Kalahasteeswara and goddess Gnana Prasunambika.

Fans gather

With news of the master blaster's visit spreading, sports enthusiasts of the town gathered at the temple and waited eagerly to have a glance of their favourite player.

Portrait presented

While the Veda pundits handed over the `prasadam' to him, the former chairperson of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), P. R. Mohan, presented a portrait of the Lord to Srikkanth.

It may be noted that Srikkanth had donated Rs. 15,000 sometime ago to the `Vajra Kireetam' scheme for making a diamond crown for the presiding deity.
