WASHINGTON: Ahead of his meeting with the visiting Indian Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld has characterised the military-to-military relations between the two countries as "excellent." Mr. Mukherjee is scheduled to have talks with his American counterpart on Tuesday. "The military-to-military relationship between our two countries is excellent. It has been developed over a period of four-and-a-half years in ways that today are multifaceted. We have advanced continuously in the relationship in terms of meetings and exercises and various aspects of it. And I feel very good about it and very positive about it," Mr. Rumsfeld told reporters. Mr. Mukherjee, who is on a nine-day official visit to the United States, has voiced concern over the licensing controls on the export of military hardware and technologies from the U.S. He said the two countries should overcome the problems by building cooperation in defence production.
