NEW DELHI: The Indian archers who returned with a silver medal from the World championship in Madrid promised more in the future competitions, in an interaction with the media here on Tuesday.

The men's recurve team bagged the silver medal behind Korea, the first ever medal at this level. Tarundeep Rai finished fourth in the individual competition.

The president of the Archery Association of India, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra expressed satisfaction at the improved showing. The captain and coach of the men's team, Sanjeeva Singh said the impressive result was due to proper planning and execution over the years.

"Our men and women's teams had finished fourth and sixth in the last World championship and they have gone up to be No.2 and No.4 respectively.

"We have improved both in terms of scores and the position. We have a solid system in place. Every two years we are getting new archers and there is a bigger pool of talent," said Sanjeeva Singh.
