Give up move to privatise FCI: CPI(M)
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan and CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan have come down heavily on the Government move to privatise the Food Corporation of India (FCI). In separate statements here on Tuesday, the two leaders called upon the Central Government not to go ahead with the privatisation move, as it would adversely affect the nation's food security. Mr. Achuthanandan warned the Government of sharp response from the people in case the move was not given up, and Mr. Vijayan said a consumer State like Kerala would be the worst hit by the privatisation of FCI.
