SALEM: To set the city's chaotic traffic in order, the Salem Traffic Police have decided to involve its citizens to make management effective. City Police Commissioner Abashkumar has asked his officials to start distributing a set of questionnaires to the public from Tuesday. The form seeks response from the public to improve traffic. Officials were instructed to monitor city traffic closely. The questionnaire intends to know if traffic signals at various points were helpful to regulate traffic, and if timers at signals installed at various places functioned.
Rule violation
The first respondent charged that auto rickshaw drivers were the prime violators of rules, followed by motorbike riders. Talking to media persons, the Commissioner said that after collecting the feedback from the people, he would chalk out an exhaustive plan to improve the traffic management in the city, involving suggestions provided by the public. The Commissioner said that the new traffic signals played a major role in streamlining traffic. The ratio of the fatal accidents also had come down.
