Expedition flagged off

NEW DELHI: The Director-General of National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant-General M.C. Bhandari, on Tuesday flagged in the NCC's boys mountaineering expedition to Sudershan Parvat at a function here.

Gen. Bhandari praised the team for their determination and dedication in scaling the peak. The 55th mountaineering expedition consisted of team leader Lt. Col. Vijay Singh, deputy leader Lt. Col. Sanjay Pandey; and medical officer Lt. Col. R.C. Sahu besides 20 cadets qualified in advance and basic mountaineering course.

Sudershan Parvat, located at an altitude of 6, 507 metres in the Garhwal region, was technically a difficult peak to climb.

Bank timmings

NEW DELHI: The State Bank of India's Ajmal Khan Road branch will now remain open seven days a week.

The General Manager of the bank, Narayan Raja, inaugurated the new facility by lighting the traditional lamp. The Deputy General Manager, D. Balakrishnan, and other staff of the bank were present. The trading community of the area has welcomed the new banking concept.

Campaign launched

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi launched a public awareness campaign for prevention of malaria and dengue at its Shahdara South Zone office here on Tuesday.

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Ram Babu Sharma, was the chief guest at the launch, while the Chairman of the Ward Committee, Anil Chaudhari, presided. The area MLA, Amrish Gautam, was among those present.

Debate organised

NEW DELHI: The Sashastra Seema Bal on Thursday organised a debate on "Can Terrorism Not Be Tackled Without Violating Human Rights?" for the Delhi zone at Ber Sarai here.

The debate organised on behalf of the National Human Rights Commission saw participation of five teams from the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, National Security Guard and Sashastra Seema Bal.
