Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM: As many as 1,100 lorries stayed off the roads in the town as the operators observed a bandh protesting the hike in fuel price and taxes. The Lorry Owners Association organised a protest march as well as a demonstration denouncing the hike. They also opposed the collection of toll tax on highways and other thoroughfares.

The association leaders, Katakam Venkata Narayana and K. Sivanagamallewar Rao demanded a rollback in the prices of petrol and diesel. The protesters presented a memorandum to the district revenue officer.
