RAJAHMUNDRY: The DGP, Swaranjit Sen, has ruled out police commissionerate for Rajahmundry. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said he knew that the demand for commissionerate was long- pending, but technically it was not possible. "I think time is not ripe for commissionerate. The cities that have crossed 10 lakh population are eligible to have commissionerate and the crime rate is much under control in this city. So, I don't think it is necessary," the DGP said. Mr Sen said Rajahmundry, being a historic city, was having a lot of problems with drains and sanitation. "First, you beautify your city and then ask for commissionerate," he said. He said he had given instructions to all SPs about highway accidents and controlling three-wheelers, which were mostly responsible for these accidents. The IG of north Andhra region, V. Gopinatha Reddy, the DIG, K. Narasimha Reddy, and the SP, Naveen Chand, were also present at the press conference.
