Sanskrit scholar dead

CHENNAI:
Sanskrit scholar, T. Ramachandra Sastri, died on Monday at his residence in Sriperumbudur, about 50 km from the city. He was 103. He is survived by a son and five daughters. A gold medallist in Sanskrit from the University of Madras in 1927, Mr. Sastri took to teaching and served the Sanskrit College at Sriperumbudur for four decades. Srirangam Srimad Andavan and N.S. Ramanuja Thathacharya, Sanskrit scholar, were among his students. In 1997, he received a certificate of honour from the then President, S.D. Sharma.
