M. Rajesh was honoured with the Role Model Student Award by the Sharma Park Walkers' Exnora, at Rama Rao Kala Mandap, last week. Rajesh, who hails from an agricultural family near Madurantakam, lost both his parents and moved to Chennai to live with his uncle. Poverty forced him to study under the Sharma Park lamp in T. Nagar. His diligence was rewarded when he topped his school in the class XII board examinations. The Madras University Vice-Chancellor, S.P. Thyagarajan, presented the award to Rajesh. Mrs Y.G Parthasarathy, Dean and Director, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan group of Schools, who delivered the keynote address, praised his perseverance and invited him to address her senior students. Also presenting him a cash award, Mrs. Parthasarathy exhorted her students to imbibe his spirit, battle against all adversities, and work with self confidence.
