Advisory panel on direct taxes reconstituted

NEW DELHI:
The Centre on Tuesday reconstituted the Central Direct Taxes Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister. The Minister of State for Finance (Revenue) will be its vice-chairman.
The Committee, according to an official statement here, will advise the Government on measures for developing and encouraging mutual understanding and co-operation between taxpayers and the Income-Tax (I-T) Department and on measures for removing general administrative and procedural difficulties.
According to a resolution issued by the Department of Revenue in the Finance Ministry here, the Committee will have three official members and 16 non-official members with its headquarters in the capital.
The official members will consist of Secretary, Department of Revenue, and Chairman and Member (Revenue), Central Board of Direct Taxes.
The non-official members include four Members of Parliament and 12 representatives.
