THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Policemen were doused with aerated soft drinks when they stopped a Yuva Janata Dal march to the Chief Minister's residence at Jagathy demanding the closure of the Coca-Cola factory at Plachimada in Palakkad district. The workers led by the State general secretary Saju George were demanding the closure of the factory on the grounds that the company was over exploiting the ground water at Plachimada and also polluting the groundwater. The police placed iron barricades on the road leading to Oommen Chandy's residence. Traffic along the Jagathy bus route was thrown out of gear for more than two hours owing to the march.
