AIDSO to hold rally today

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The All-India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) has organised a State-level students' rally on Wednesday to protest against the education policies of the Union and State governments.

More than 10,000 students from 15 districts will take part in the rally. The protest is against the "lack of policy" on admissions to professional colleges, lack of infrastructure in government medical colleges, cut in grants for providing fee concession, and the fee structure. The organisation is also demanding introduction of English from first standard, M.N. Sriram president of AIDSO, told presspersons here.

He said: "The governments at the Centre and State have embraced the policy of globalisation, which has resulted in the hike in fees and commercialisation of education."

V.N. Rajashekhar, AIDSO Secretary, said the semester system has caused hardship to students.

Their results are announced when they are preparing for the next semester examination."
