Rupee drops 4 paise

MUMBAI: The rupee on Wednesday declined further sharply by more than four paise against the U.S. dollar on the interbank foreign exchange market due to heavy dollar demand after a sharp rise in U.S. dollar against other world currencies. The Indian unit opened sharply weak at Rs. 43.5400/5500 a dollar and declined further steeply to close at 43.5650/5700 against yesterday's close of 43.5225/5300.

The rupee firmed up against other currencies such as the British pound, euro and yen. — PTI
