Double standards

The report that Brinda Karat and Sitaram Yechury will contest the elections to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal (June 29) reminds one of the uproar created by the CPI (M) about Congress leaders being elected to the House from places where they did not live.

By nominating two non-domiciled members, the party is violating the principle on which it had criticised Manmohan Singh (from Assam) and Pranab Mukherjee (from Gujarat).
