KOLLAM: Kollam Bishop Stanley Roman laid the foundation stone for a new building of the R.C. Emmanuel School at Azheekal in Alapad. The school building had been badly damaged in the tsunami. The new building is being constructed by the Quilon Social Service Society (QSSS) with support from the Kannur-based Deenaseva Sabha nuns. Emmanuel School is more than a century old and is reportedly the first school in Karaunagapally taluk. The school now functions from a temporary shed put up by QSSS. QSSS director Romans Antony and diocese Corporate Manager George Mathew were also present at the foundation stone-laying function.
