It is no breach or split, says Congress
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI:
The differences between the United Progressive Alliance and the Left parties over BHEL disinvestmentshould be seen in a democratic perspective and not as a "breach or a split," Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said here on Wednesday.
The Left parties' choice of the word "suspend" indicated that their decision not to participate in coordination committee meetings with the UPA was temporary. While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi spoke to Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is in the United States, contacted other Left leaders.
