CHENNAI: The police have arrested 10 persons in connection with the attack on fisherfolk families at Nalla Thanneer Odai Kuppan near Tiruvottiyur. They were charged under Sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 336 (doing any act which endangers human life or the personal safety of others) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The Tiruvottiyur police identified the arrested as Ramalingam, Meghadan, Jayasakthi, Velu, Satyanarayanan, Asaithambi, Chinnakumar, Manickam, Elango and Ramu. All of them belonged to Nalla Thanneer Odai Kuppam, and were remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday evening , the police added.
