BANGALORE: With the market for colour printers and colour laser multi-function devices estimated to grow by over 80 per cent, Xerox India has re-worked its strategy for an expanded market coverage. Announcing the plans, the Managing Director, Andrew Horne, said the company had been segmented into three divisions new office group; production systems group; and Xerox global services and had adopted a `two-tier' distribution model, away from the earlier direct sales strategy. Mr. Horne said the `colour printing' market was fast expanding and there was demand for low-end laser printers and MFDs. The strategy was to execute `colour everywhere' and the company was looking at the inkjet replacement market. As the price of laser printers was dropping, he said, it would help grow the replacement market. The Executive Director, New Office Group, Xerox, Natesh Mani said Xerox would be launching about 30 products this year to expand the product suite and target new market segments and also ramp up investment in channel engagement and training. The group had invested in 140 people across 18 locations. Xerox introduced six scanners for consumers, small businesses and enterprises and two projectors (Xerox DP 820 at a price of Rs. 1.13 lakh and Xerox DP 1011 at Rs. 2.19 lakh).
