Students protest against delay in supply of textbooks

Special Correspondent

BOYCOTT: School students staging a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Gulbarga on Wednesday, demanding the supply of textbooks.

GULBARGA: Hundreds of students from different schools in the city walked out of their classes and held protests in the streets on Wednesday demanding early supply of textbooks by the Government. The protest was organised by the All-India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) and drew a spontaneous response. A large number of students boycotted classes and participated in a procession to the Deputy Commissioner's office from Jagat Circle to voice their indignation against the inordinate delay in supplying textbooks.

The procession held up traffic on the main roads for more than an hour. The students shouted slogans against the State Government demanding that textbooks be supplied immediately. A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.
