MYSORE ": An apple a day, keeps the doctor away," goes the popular adage. But, it wasn't the case for the wives of doctors who participated in the "Apple Dance" contest organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) as part of Doctors' Day celebrations in Mysore recently. For, doctors and their wives had to not only hold each other, but also keep the fruit pressed between their foreheads for as long as possible. The event was held at the Jeevarayana Katte grounds. But soon, the forbidden fruit proved to be the undoing of many a couple during the dance. Those who were unable to hold the apple in place for long saw themselves losing out in the race. The winners of the race were Gopinath and his wife, Radha. The second place was bagged by Jagannath Babu and his wife, E. Suma. Though Doctors' Day is celebrated throughout the World on July 1, the IMA organised the "Apple Dance" competition on the preceding Sunday to ensure the participation of as many doctors as possible.
