MANGALORE: William D'Souza, 32, of Kuriyalla village near Bantwal reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house on Tuesday. According to a police complaint lodged by Joseph D'Souza, his brother, William was depressed over the recent demise of their mother and the fact that he was not yet married. William was also said to be an alcoholic.
Arrested
The Bantwal Rural and Mangalore Rural (Kankanady) police arrested two persons who were moving around in a suspicious manner on Tuesday. The Bantwal Rural police arrested Gopal near the VSS Society office at Sangabettu when he did not give proper reply to their queries. The Mangalore Rural police arrested Shubhakar Shetty, alias Baba at Yekkur on the outskirts of the city on the charge of attempting to disturb peace in the area. Shubhakar Shetty, a resident of Gorrigudde, was produced before the magistrate.
Found dead
An unidentified man was found dead in a bus at the State Bank of India service bus terminus here on Tuesday. The police said the man, who boarded the bus at Highlands in the city, was found dead by other passengers. A case has been registered.
Held for gambling
The Mangalore South police on Monday arrested three persons on the charge of gambling near the Goods Shed area. The names of the arrested have been given as Suresh, Kumar and Hemachandra. The police have recovered stake money of Rs. 1,000 from them.
