Isolated rain likely

in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over north interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal and north interior Karnataka, at many places over Kerala and at a few places over Telangana and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimeters:

Londa (Belgaum dt.) 16, Hirekerur (Haveri dt.) 12, Talaguppa (Shimoga dt.) 11, Siddapura (Udupi dt.) and Khanapura (Belgaum dt.) 8 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are:

Ankola (Uttara Kannada dt.) 6, Karwar and Nippani (Belgaum dt.) 5 each, Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Jayapura (Chickmagalur dt.), Perumbavur (Ernakulam dt.) and CIAL Kochi 4 each, Eturnagaram (Warangal dt.), Shirali, Honavar, Belgaum Airport, Dharwad, Medikeri, Sakleshpura (Hassan dt.), Kozhikode and Aluva (Ernakulam dt.) 3 each, Hyderabad Airport, Perur (Khammam dt.), Srisailam (Kurnool dt.), Mulki (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Kundapura and Kota (both Udupi dt.), Udupi, Haveri, Belur (Hassan dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Quilandy (Kozhikode dt.), Perinthalmanna (Malapuram dt.), Paravur (Ernakulam dt.) and Kottayam 2 each.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka, at many places over Telangana, north interior Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Rayalasema.
