Over 40 cases in Chennai alone detected

CHENNAI: : The Income Tax Department officers have stumbled on a huge scam involving non-existent chartered accountants who "certified" the accounts of individual assessees and companies.

In Chennai alone more than 40 cases of "fake chartered accountants" certifying the balance sheets of company and individual accounts have been found out by the Department officials. Investigations have revealed that the seal and the address were fictitious.
