RBI holiday

tomorrow

The office of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will be closed on Friday owing to the Bank's annual closing of accounts.

The Hyderabad Clearing House and the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) Cheque Processing Centre managed by the bank will however remain open on Friday.

Drive against under-age drivers to continue

In continuation of the special drive against driving of vehicles by under-aged schoolchildren, the traffic police detected 97 such cases at six places in the city on Tuesday. Parents of the respective children were summoned to police stations and were counselled not to allow the under-aged to drive vehicles. The Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), A.K. Khan, in a press release, stated that the traffic police would further take stringent action against such drivers.

Elected FAPCCI

vice-president

Atluri Subba Rao was unanimously elected vice-president of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) here on Wednesday.

He was elected by the managing committee, according to a press release issued by the federation.

Conference on

health held

A conference on `New Challenges of Occupational Health in Non-Coal Mines" was inaugurated at the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) here on Tuesday.

The conference was organised under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), South Zone, Hyderabad.

Elected president

Sadiq Naqvi is the new president of Hyderi Educational and Social Welfare Society, a voluntary organisation working for promotion of education in the Shia community. He was unanimously elected at the executive body meeting of the Society held recently. Author of several books on history, Mr. Naqvi served as the chairman Board of Studies, Department of History, Osmania University, according to a press release.
