Qatar Airways

plans more flights

KOCHI: Qatar Airways will add two more services to its weekly schedule from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery to Doha from July 15, augmenting the number of services to five a week. The new flights which offer connection flights to various European destinations from Doha are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays. The airline now operates three services a week from here, on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Qatar Airways will have a daily flight between Doha and Delhi from July 14. It now has 19 scheduled flights a week between Doha and four Indian destinations, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and Mumbai. This will go up to 30 a week by the middle of next month, airline sources said here on Wednesday. — Special Correspondent

Customs to open

help centres

Kochi: Cochin Customs, in association with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kochi, will open a help centre at the office of the Chamber for manufacturers, importers, exporters and service providers.

A representative of the Chamber will be available at the Centre. Customs officers will be present twice a week there. The stakeholders can obtain clarifications and resolve their doubts at the Centre, said Customs Commissioner D.D. Ingty. The Centre also provides a single window system for clarifying the doubts of the customers. V.K. Ebrahim Kunju, Minister for Industries, will inaugurate the Centre on Friday. Another Centre will be inaugurated at the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry building on Shanmugham Road on Thursday. Dominic Presentation, Fisheries Minister, will inaugurate the centre. — Staff Reporter

River protection committee's plea

KOCHI: Periyar Malineekarana Virudha Samithi has urged the authorities to introduce a gateway connecting the Vallarpadom container terminal high-speed corridor to the Eloor industrial area. Samithi chairman Yesudas Varapuzha said in a press release here on Wednesday that the gateway would speed up transportation of goods from the industrial units.

He also urged the authorities to reduce the impact of the high-speed corridor project on the ecology of the area. Reclamation of paddy fields would affect the lives of hundreds of farmers. The authorities should ensure that the project would not affect natural resources in Eloor. — Staff Reporter

MBA interview at Bharath Mata today

Kochi: The Group Discussion and personal interview for admissions to the MBA (full time) regular course at Bharat Mata College, Thrikkakara, will be conducted on Thursday. Candidates having MAT score of All India Management Association should appear for the interview at 9-30 a.m. The application form will be available at the college office. — Staff Reporter

Power supply to

be disrupted

Kochi: The power supply to Chakkaraparambu, Naroth Road, A.K.G. Library Road, Bhavara Parambu and Labour Road Colony will be disrupted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday on account of installation of a transformer in the area, said Kerala State Electricity Board officials here on Wednesday. — Staff Reporter
