Project stayed

HYDERABAD:
Further construction at the mega housing project of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority at Mathurawada of Visakhapatnam has been stayed by the High Court. Justice E. Dharma Rao granted the stay while admitting a writ petition filed by the Buddha Vihar Foundation Trust and other two organisations of Buddhists.
The petitioners complained that the VUDA was vandalising the precious archaeological site. The petitioners told the court that the notification was given 20 years ago declaring the Bhavikonda site as protected.
Rehabilitation
In another case, the Judge directed the authorities to produce rehabilitation plan for residents of Siva Shankar Rajaka Colony of Visakhapatnam .The Judge was dealing with a writ petition. The district Collector, Superintendent of Police of Visakhapatnam and the Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, were present before the court in the matter on Wednesday. The Judge directed the presence of these officers when it was brought to the notice of the court that houses in the colony were demolished in spite of court orders.
