IAF to place Anjali under `close arrest'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Indian Air Force (IAF) administration on Wednesday said it will place Flying Officer Anjali Gupta under close arrest (house arrest) during the court martial proceedings to enable them to produce her on time for the proceedings after medical test at the IAF's Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) in the city.

The administration, which released Ms. Gupta from close arrest on May 24, decided to detain her again as she has been arriving late for the pro-ceedings.

In a submission to the court after the jury took note of Ms. Gupta late arrival, Wg. Cdr. Nitin Dhamne, Adjutant of Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), said that the administration will place Ms. Gupta under close arrest on the days of court martial proceedings after she reports to him at 7.45 a.m.
