Gang assaults auto driver, robs him of cash

BANGALORE: A four-member gang stabbed an autorickshaw driver and robbed him of Rs. 2,000 in the Jnana Bharathi Police Station limits on Tuesday, according to the police.

The police said that around 10 p.m. the autorickshaw driver, Vasudeva, was on his way to his house in Giddadhakonenahalli.

As the vehicle broke down on Mysore Road, he parked it on the roadside and was attending to repair work, when the four men accosted Vasudeva and asked him to drop them at Srinagar.

When he told them that that there was some problem with the vehicle, they stabbed him and relieved him of the cash.

An injured Vasudeva was given treatment at the Victoria Hospital.

The Jnana Bharathi Police have registered a case.

Burgled

Burglars struck at a house in the Ashok Nagar Police Station limits on Tuesday and made away with gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.25 lakhs and Rs. 10,000 in cash, the police said.

According to a complaint lodged by Sudhakar with the Ashok Nagar Police, the burglary took place at his mother Roselyn's house on 4th Cross, Hanumanthappa Garden, Neelasandra. Sudhakar stays in the same area.

The police said Roselyn was away in Kolkata.

The Ashok Nagar Police have registered a case.

Hundi taken away

Thieves broke into the Ganesha Temple at Bommanahalli on Tuesday and made away with the "hundi" containing cash.

On a complaint by the archak, the Madivala Police have registered a case.

Recovered

The Bharathi Nagar Police on June 26 arrested Satish alias Satyaprakash (25) of Neelasandra on a charge of theft and recovered from him nine mobile phones, a digital camera and a gold bracelet, together worth Rs. 1 lakh.

The accused had allegedly stolen the goods from cars parked in the Bharathi Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Cubbon Park police station limits, according to the police.
