ANANTAPUR: Functioning of the office of Municipal Corporation of Anantapur was affected for the second day on Thursday due to the indefinite agitation launched by the Municipal Contract Employees and Workers' Union affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). The municipal contract workers body started an indefinite siege of the Municipal Corporation's office on Wednesday as the Government has decided not to renew the contract of about 296 workers in the engineering and maintenance departments. Some of the workers have been on the duty for the civic body for more than 10 years.
