Boniface for French Open

BANGALORE: : Boniface Prabhu will participate in the French Open wheelchair championship to be played at Roland Garros from July 4. Boniface will also participate in the Dutch Open at Namur and the Belgian Open in Brussels, two major events on the European wheelchair tennis circuit.

Boniface recently won the doubles title at the Japan Open, where he was also the singles runner-up. "I will give it my best shot. This is a great opportunity to prove myself," said Boniface Prabhu. He also thanked his sponsors, Allen Solly, UTI, Worldwide, Nike-India and Babolat.

Boniface Prabhu was the first Indian wheelchair tennis player to reach the finals of the US Open, the British Open, the French Open and the Australian Open. He was also the first Indian to feature in the World rankings. He became the first Indian to win a medal (bronze) in the international Paralympic Games (IPC) in 1996 and 1998 and was chosen `best athlete' on both the occasions.
