Bride throws `thali' on the groom's face

Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY: Police are on the look out for a lower division clerk who allegedly cheated two girls. A case has been registered against Muthusamy (32), for duping a girl into marriage and later marrying another — a formal arranged one.

According to police, the clerk was living with a girl, whom he told that their marriage had been registered. A couple of days ago, Muthusamy was found missing. The girl found that he was to marry another girl. She lodged a complaint with the All-Women Police Station here.

The girl along with the police went to the marriage hall and informed about the bridegroom's earlier "registered marriage." The bride, a college student, threw the `thali' on the bridegroom's face, police said. Enquiries revealed that Muthusamy had duped the girl about registration of the marriage. Besides charges of cheating, a case has also been registered against Muthusamy for threatening the complainant.
