BIJAPUR: The re-evaluation of his second year pre-university science answer paper has catapulted Aditya Suryanarayan Hegde, a student of P.D.J. Junior College, from the fourth rank to the first rank in the district. When the results of the annual examination were announced, Aditya stood fourth in the district with 553 marks (out of 600). Though he stood first in the district in the physics, chemistry and mathematics combination with 99.3 per cent, his overall percentage came down to 92.16 as he obtained only 73 marks in the Kannada language paper. He applied for re-evaluation of the paper and was awarded an additional 15 marks. His overall tally is now 568 marks, which is what was scored by Sharanappa Ijeri, last year's CET topper, who is also a product of P.D.J. Junior College. However, Sharanappa Ijeri had scored per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and stood first in the State in the CET for Engineering and second in medical. Aditya secured the 60th rank in engineering and 66th in medical (for State students) in the CET and has got a seat in computer science at R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore. Prior to the re-evaluation his fellow students from the college, Devika Kulkarni (560 marks), Karthik. K (557 marks) and Arathi Ganiger (554 marks) were the first three toppers in the district.
