Annamalai takes over as SHAR Director

NELLLORE: M. Annamalai took charge on Thursday as Director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Nellore, popularly known as SHAR. This follows the retirement of the incumbent, K. Narayana, who held the post with distinction for six years. During the tenure of Mr. Narayana, there were six launches of PSLV and GSLV. The second launchpad at SHAR was declared open during his tenure.

Mr. Annamalai is a post-graduate from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and joined the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1970, and held various positions at SHAR.

From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Annamalai, headed the Propulsion Test Centre at Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. He was presented with the Astronautical Society Award in 1999 for his contribution in the field of rocketry.
