KAKINADA: The excise revenue through auction of shops in Kakinada Excise range comprising the three districts of East and West Godavari and Krishna has doubled for the excise year commencing from today. While 555 shops in East Godavari fetched a revenue of Rs.50.63 crores registering seventy nine per cent increase over the upset price, it is as high as 106 per cent in West Godavari where the revenue was Rs.46.91 crores as against the upset price of Rs.22.76 Crores for the 473 shops. In case of Krishna district, the revenue on 335 shops was Rs.29.96 crores as against upset price of Rs.17.19 crores thus registering an increase of 74.26 per cent. The Deputy Commissioner of Excise Kakinada Range, K. Sriramulu, said here on Thursday that one shop in Balaji Cheruvu area in Kakinada city was auctioned for Rs.26 lakhs as against Rs.9 lakhs upset price. When compared to urban areas, he said, the rural areas had fetched more revenue this time where the growth was almost cent per cent.
