Spain-Italy match suspended

ALMERIA: A Mediterranean Games quarterfinal soccer match between Italy and Spain was abandoned with five minutes remaining after seven players were sent off and fighting broke out on the field when Spain took the lead 2-1.

Spain was later awarded the victory and advanced to the semifinals. — AP
