Ritwik bows out

MUMBAI: Ritwik Bhattacharya, the highest ranked Professional Squash Association (PSA) ranked performer in the Herald Maritime Services Squash Open 2005, crashed out in the quarterfinals to unseeded Bernardo Samper at the Otters Club on Thursday.

The top seeded Indian lost in five games to the Colombian No. 2 (incidentally the best player currently on the U.S. Collegiate squash scene) 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-5.

Men's Open: Bernardo Samper (Colmbia) bt 1-Ritwik Bhattacharya (India) 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-5; 4-Farhan Mehboob (Pakistan) bt 5/8-Cameron White (Australia) 11-9, 14-12, 9-11, 7-11, 18-16.
